Officers 2007-2008

Devina Khanna: VP of Production

To get more students informed about what ITS is and be encouraged to get involved or observe. To really promote performances, events, activities, games and anything else ITS and the Drama department are producing by reaching out specifically to MV students and finding more ways to interest them. To break any stereotypes of the students involved with theater and the arts, and break walls that may isolate these students from other MV students. Encourage students to get involved with shows/ ITS etc. by appealing to more students and by becoming more approachable to new members and freshman. Become as well known and in the same rank as other clubs. Use Matador spirit to attract more students. To follow through with ideas and maintain a friendly, professional environment, not only among leadership, but members as well.

Susan Oldfield: VP of Promotion

Monta Vista is a huge school.  It has almost three thousand students, is highly competitive and high stress.  A comparative handful of these students seek refuge and sanity in the theatre department.  Although we are a small group, I feel that we make a huge impact on the artistic output of our school.  Unlike so many other groups at our school, we work hard because it is our passion and our pride to do so.  What we create is beautiful and meaningful, and I feel that it is important that what we have accomplished be shown to the whole school.  I want to make the other two thousand six hundred and fifty students realize the power of theatre and give them the opportunity to let its wisdom inspire and enlighten their lives.  I understand that to be a part of the theatre is not for everyone, but that does not mean that it will not profoundly affect anyone who gives it half a chance.  I can think of nowhere I’d rather be than the theatre, and anything I can to do to improve or help the department I want to do.  Any way I can make the experiences of my fellows here easier or better or just more enjoyable I will utilize.   Theatre keeps me sane, gives me a reason to get up in the mornings.  For that alone, I feel that it is my duty to give back to theatre everything I can offer.

Jeanette Deutsch: VP of Comedy Sportz

My Job as VP in charge of ComedySportz is to first and foremost, maintain a steady stream of information between ComedySportz and the ITS officers. This includes planning games, and collaborating with tech and promotions. I am eager to continue the high standards of MV CSZ, while trying to reach a wider audience to spread the “Improv gospel” I will also strive to promote the highest possible means of mutual respect, while remembering not to take things too seriously. After all, it is ComedySportz

Brian Miller: VP of Saturday Night Live and ASB Liaison

Excluding my baby years and several weeks during the year, I have been doing theatre for almost my entire life. When I first decided I was going to go high school, the only class I knew I wanted to take was Beginning Drama. As I took that class, I felt I wanted something more, something even more involved, and that’s when I learned about International Thespian Society and about Monta Vista’s troupe. I instantly wanted to be a member of this very special society. Later, I attended the ITS festival in Ontario, CA and more of the shows run by Monta Vista and ITS, I knew that I wanted to be more than a member, somebody who has an even greater impact on the club. The obvious choice was to become an officer. I wanted to have an effect on the members of ITS Troupe 5270 and also have an indirect effect on anyone that watches a show run by us. After two years, I reached my goal, and I became an officer.

Emily Williams: VP of ITS-New Pledges

Mandy Watson: VP of Production

Life is more meaningful with a passion. At least one thing in everyone’s life gives them essence and is worth pursuing whether it’s as an occupation or just a hobby; something that they love and are willing to work at, setting new goals and making improvements. For me that thing is Drama. As an officer, I will work to set goals and continue to make improvements. I hope to make this year the best it can be by working towards better organization and communication, staying on task, following through, and further promoting Drama. Together with Holly and the other ITS officers I will make sure that every area of drama is supported and everyone is informed and aware of what’s going on in Monta Vista ITS Troupe 5270.

As an ITS officer I serve every member and pledge by working to make their experiences in the International Thespian Society as good as possible. Throughout the year I hope to see everyone gain more self-confidence, step outside their comfort zones, and grow.  My first year in ITS was a wonderful experience for me and I am truly honored to be an ITS officer for the 2007-2008 school year.

Hilary Stanek: Co-President

As an ITS Co-President, I believe I have a great deal to offer the troupe.  I am the definition of a problem solver, which means I like to get things done quickly and efficiently, but I am very flexible and willing to work out kinks as we go.  I also, considering that problem solving aspect of my personality, hope to maintain a very high morale between all officers.  I am also good at taking initiative.  I feel confident enough to say this because I have been in extensive leadership programs that have allowed me to be able to see what needs to be done, and do it.  Along with my initiative-taking skills, I plan to strive for follow-through.  I think of myself as hard-working and a team player.  I have so many ideas that I would like to get off the ground and an urge to make them happen and to make this year the best ever for Troupe #5270.

Andrea Donigan: VP of Tech

I am an officer of ITS because I want our tech department to be the best it can possibly be. I am here to make the people aware of our tech department and make sure they know what a big part of theatre it really is. I am here to make sure all the technical aspects of all the shows are done well and close as perfection as we can.  We must take pride in our space an in saying that I am here with the help of others to make sure our space stays organized, clean, and neat.  I want to be sure people outside of Drama are aware of our skills and feel comfortable asking for help.I also want people to feel welcome each time they walk into the Black Box to help with set construction.  I am proud of what we do here, and I aim to work with the other ITS members to strive for excellence in all aspects of MV Drama.
