The JV boys
basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 8-14 and finished
third place in league with a record of 5-7. This season was a roller coaster
ride for our team. We got off to a fast start, winning three of our first
four games. We then hit a real rough patch and won only one of our next fourteen
games. During this time period we suffered season-ending injuries to two of
our starters. This really changed the face of our team and required some adjustment
time by our players. This group of kids was very resilient and never gave
up on themselves or on our season. They continued to practice and play hard
every day and were rewarded by ending the season with a four game win streak!
This late season surge propelled us to finish in third place in league play.
Our team was led by three sophomores: 1st team all-league selection Eli Cagan
(12 pts/game), 2nd team all-league selection Kevin Wu (10 pts/game), and Jon
Liu (6 rebounds/game, 50% FG) who anchored the paint both offensively and
defensively. Freshmen Ryan Michelfelder and Rahul Bisht played key minutes
for our team and stepped up late in the season to contribute to our final
run.
