THE PROGRAM
The Monta Vista Water Polo team has for the past 30 years been one of the
outstanding High School Water Polo programs in Northern California as well
as the Nation.
The winning tradition began with the schools first League Championship in
1974, and C.C.S title in 1975. It has since become one of the best High School
teams in this area and has earned an outstanding reputation for developing
players for all levels of competition. Players from Monta Vista have participated
in many forms of National Competition, from the National Jr. Olympics to the
Men's Senior National Championships, as well as placing members on National
level teams that have represented the U.S. in International competition
In the last twenty Five years the High School Team has won four League Championships
and placed second six times; going on to the C.C.S championships Fifteen times
and placing as high as 2nd several times. The team has been ranked in the
top five in the Nation twice and is consistently ranked in the top ten in
the Santa Clara Valley
The students in the program have shown their abilities in the academic arena
as well, the majority constantly placing high on class lists and going on
to excellent Colleges and Universities. The rigorous combination of full athletic
participation and Academics has prepared past Graduates well for college;
the roll call of Universities is impressive; Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA,
USC, Princeton, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego and UC Davis.
Other Team members in the past have attended the Air Force Academy, Clairmont,
Cornell, Duke, and the University of the Pacific to name a few. The combination
of success in the classroom and dedication in the pool is the strongest tradition
in the Monta Vista Aquatics program.
