| Monta Vista High School opened in 1969 and continues to be one of the top comprehensive high schools in California and the United States. Students have a full range of academic, extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Approximately 97 percent of our 2500 students will attend college after graduation. Monta Vista has been both a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon award winner, and has been recognized by Newsweek and US News and World Report for its outstanding student success. In 2009 we received the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement. A teaching staff of about 115 and a support staff of 40 provide an environment that is both academically challenging and culturally enriching. |

A partial list of organizations includes: ASB government, Community Leadership, class government, Music (marching band, jazz band, orchestra, chamber orchestra, choir, elite mixed ensemble), Speech and Debate, Journalism, Yearbook, Key Club, Interact and Octagon (service clubs), Future Business Leaders of America, DECA, California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, Spanish and French Honor Societies, Dance team, Cheerleading and Color Guard, Drama, Mock Trial, Robotics and Amnesty International. Monta Vista students also participate in a full range of competitive athletics. |
